Female Athlete of the Week: Jordi Edens is the No. 1 Breakaway Roper of Cowboy Christmas

Jordi Edens was the No. 1 lady in breakaway roping earnings over Cowboy Christmas as she cashed more than $13,000 during the Fourth of July run.

Her fastest run was a 2.0 in Oakley City, Utah and it brought her a first place finish and her biggest check of the week of $6,387. Edens also cashed in a first place finish at the Black Hills Roundup in Belle Fourche when she was 2.4 seconds. At the World’s Oldest Rodeo in Prescott, Arizona, she placed in both rounds as well as the aggregate to add to her Cowboy Christmas earnings.

Edens attributed part of her success to her mare, Judy. On social media, Edens said that they mare has helped her confidence grow and is heading home to Texas for a well deserved break while Edens continues on her summer run up north.

Going into Cowboy Christmas, Edens sat No. 22 in the WPRA Breakaway Roping World Standings with $14,472 in earnings. Unofficially, her winnings over the Fourth have skyrocketed her into the Top 15.
