After a sensational start that saw him win Odessa and Denver and finish second in Houston, Rocker Steiner’s rookie season has been put on hold after injuring his left knee in RodeoHouston’s Championship Shootout on Saturday.

Steiner will miss 2-3 months after hurting his PCL dismounting Pete Carr Pro Rodeo’s Dirty Jacket. He will not need surgery and plans to rehab in Weatherford and be ready for the Reno Rodeo in the middle of June.

“After the whistle I got pulled down and landed right on my knee,” Steiner told ProRodeo.com. “It didn’t really hurt until I got back to the locker room, and I saw my knee was swollen.”

Steiner is currently No. 8 in the PRCA Bareback Riding World Standings after quickly filling his permit and winning over $27,000 in Houston.

“This isn’t the best timing in the world, and I could have done without this, but it could have been worse,” Steiner said. “I have never had problems with my knees before. I just have to roll with the punches.”
