The Ellis County Livestock Show and Rodeo is Two Weeks Away

Waxahachie, Texas is home to one of the newest rodeos to become a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association sanctioned event. The Ellis County Livestock Show and Rodeo will take place in late March. Slack will take place on March 24, there will be two rodeo performances over the weekend and their livestock show will begin the week after.

Ellis County held an amateur rodeo in 2018 and it was such a success that the next step was a PRCA rodeo and with the help of Casey Harp they are hosting their third professional rodeo.

In the past, there have been big names and big scores at this rodeo. Chad Rutherford, Clayton Biglow, Wade Sundell, Jacobs Crawley and Shane Proctor have all been in attendance. On the timed event side team ropers Kaleb Driggers and Junior Noguiera have competed along with Riley Duvall, Shad Mayfield, Tuf Cooper, Dona Kay Rule and Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi have all competed in Waxahachie.

It is important to Ellis County to put on a show that brings in the best contestants and the best crowd. It is also important that they continue to grow the event from all angles, including the rodeo and the livestock show.

“There is not a better way to raise children than around livestock. If it’s ranching, farming, in that arena whether it’s rodeo or showing these animals, there’s just not a better way of life,” Charlie Nolen, of Ellis County said.

The rodeo doubles as a good show for the audience, supporters and sponsors as well as a way to pay it back to the community with the good that it rings to the community.

The Ellis County Livestock Show and Rodeo will be live on The Cowboy Channel Plus on March 25 and 26 at 8:30 ET.
