Caleb Smidt blew away the rest of the field by stopping the clock at 6.87 seconds to win The American for the second time since 2019.

"Jesus Christ blesses me each and every day that I get to do this sport," Smidt said. "None of this is possible without God, it's unbelievable that I can even compete at this level with these guys."

Afterward, the reigning World Champion tie-down roper was emotional when talking about his father, who passed in 2018, the year Smidt won his second career Gold Buckle.

"My dad has always wanted to watch me run every calf and the day he passed away, he got that privilege, because he watches me run every one of 'em," Smidt said. "I know he's with me."
