Waylon Bourgeois is currently leading the Resistol Rookie of the Year standings in the bareback riding.
Bourgeois made the decision to get his card and chase the rookie title after having some success during the 2020 summer run.
“It was time and I realized that I needed to be there and that I could hang with them,” Bourgeois said about going on his permit.
Bourgeois has spent two years on his permit and that could fall in his favor. Those two years of experience can help him navigate when and where to go that he will do his best and cash in on big wins that could get the Louisiana cowboy to his first ever National Finals Rodeo.
“I think it’s going to be a great year, I’m really excited for it and I’m ready to see what God has in store,” he said.
Bourgeois is to Tuscan, before he goes to Georgia and Iowa as he gets going on this marathon on rodeo.
