It was a big week for the National Reined Cow Horse Association as they hosted the Celebration of Champions in Fort Worth, Texas. They held the World’s Greatest Horseman competition inside Will Rogers Coliseum and winning that prestigious event is none other than Corey Cushing.

Cushing is now a three-time champion of the World’s Greatest Horseman and this latest championship came aboard a horse named Hott Rod. There are four events that make up the competition including herd work, steer stopping, rein work and fence work.

“There were 15 of the greatest horses out there and any one of them, it could’ve been their day. But you know, I’ve been thinking about this ever since I bought Hott Rod as a two-year-old and knew that it was his day and the energy was just going and I’m just really proud and fortunate for him… that he was able to win that title,” Cushing said.

Cushing compared the fans at the World’s Greatest Horseman to cheering as loud as fans at a rock concert when their favorite song comes on.

After a picture perfect fence work run, Cushing’s gave all credit to Hott Rod.

“These kind of horses are just placed in your life, you can’t build them to be as special as that horse is to me,” Cushing said.
