Shane Hanchey wins the round in the calf roping with an 8.4 second run.
Hanchey has had the opportunity to ride a set of amazing animal athletes. After losing TJ right before the NFR and conquering the Thomas and Mack on Peso, Hanchey is figuring out who his next equine partner will be.
“It’s well documented the horse trouble that I’ve had the last four months and losing sleep at night trying to figure out if there is a next one, you know. Just lucky that I get to ride Iron,” Hanchey said.
It was a good night to be a Hanchey in San Antonio. Taylor Hanchey, Shane’s wife, stuck one on in the breakaway roping to be 1.9 and Shane laughed about having to go out after her.
“Actually, after she got all the barrier, I thought, you know I can’t back off the barrier… I tell you what, the horse was great tonight. He got me a good start… It was all horse tonight because I just went through the motions and was 8.4,” Hanchey said.
This round win earned Hanchey a spot in the Semifinals alongside Haven Meged, Shad Mayfield and Cody Craig.
