Fort Worth Wild Card: Recap, Highlights and Payouts

BY BRETT NIERENGARTEN

The Semifinals are officially set at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.

The third place finisher in every bracket got to come back for Wild Card Wednesday and two of them in every event earned their spot in the Semifinals.

In bareback riding, Clayton Biglow was victorious with 88 points on Pistol Princess from Championship Pro Rodeo. The other roughstock winners had big scores as well. Stetson Wright was 88.5 points in saddle bronc riding and Trey Benton III scored a whopping 92.5 in bull riding.

“We had some things go wrong on my second one and luckily, I had the chance to come back today and we can still win Fort Worth,” Benton III said. “So it’s not over.”

In barrel racing, fan favorites Dona Kay Rule and her two-time AQHA Horse of the Year Valor had a run of 16.26 seconds to win the Wild Card and she was far from the only popular timed event athlete to get the job done. In team roping, it was Coleman Proctor/Logan Medlin with a time of 3.8 seconds and in tie-down, Cory Solomon was 7.6.

“Man, between my horse and this guy right here (Medlin), he still makes an old man like me fast enough, so I really enjoyed it,” Proctor said.

In steer wrestling, Rowdy Parrott stopped the clock at 5 seconds flat to move on.
