New Years Eve Buck & Ball: Recap & Highlights

Every year for 19 years, the New Year’s Eve Buck & Ball has taken place in Gillette, Wyoming and his New Year’s was no different.

It was Logan Patterson who got the win in the bareback riding. He went for 87.5 points on Harper & Morgan Rodeo Co’s Sippin Fire Water.

“I’d never heard of that horse until December when he was at the Finals and I watched him and that was one of the horses I wanted to get on,” Patterson said of Sippin Fire Water.

In the saddle bronc riding it was fan favorite, Dawson Hay, who took home the win after going 88 points on the 2021 Saddle Bronc Horse of the Year, Onion Ring, of Korkow Rodeo.

“It’s just an awesome horse, World Champion bucking horse, you just can’t beat him,” Hay said.

Up and comer Tristan Hutchings cinched the win in the bull riding to kick of 2022 the right way. He went 81.5 points on Burch Rodeo’s Double Threat.

“I just rode my bull and he was good… just a good bull to ride,” Hutchings said.
