Kaycee Feild wins record-breaking sixth PRCA Bareback Riding World Championship

Kaycee Feild solidified his spot in history at the 2021 Wrangler NFR by breaking the all-time record in bareback riding Go-Round wins (27) and Gold Buckles (6). He also added a second RAM Top Gun Award as he won $231,564 at the NFR, more than any other competitor.

“Well, I’ll tell you what, this is something very humbling to me, I set out to be the very best, I didn’t want rumors of it, I wanted it on paper,” Feild said. “My legacy that I’ll leave behind is for my kids. This is a huge win for me and the legacy of the Feild name that my great father Lewis Feild started. It’s an honor to carry it on.”

Feild won Rounds 3-5 as well as Round 8 and finished a half-point behind Jess Pope in the Average with a total of 872.5 points in 10 head. Feild finished about $17,000 ahead of Pope in the final PRCA World Standings.

“It’s been so much fun (to battle Jess Pope) all week, I look up to Jess Pope, he’s a young kid, he’s strong, he’s tough, competing against him, it’s fun,” Feild said after Round 8.

He and Pope were the only two cowboys marked 90 points or more multiple times and Feild’s worst ride all 10 days was an 84. Overall, he placed in nine of 10 rounds.

Feild has won the last two PRCA Bareback Riding World Championships to break the mark set by Joe Alexander. Alexander won five in a row from 1971-1975.

Feild’s father, ProRodeo Hall of Famer Lewis Feild, won a total of five Gold Buckles in his career, three in the all-around and two in the bareback riding.

“The Feild name, the Feild legacy that my dad started is something I’m very proud of. I’m very proud of the heritage and legacy and everything that represents,” he told ProRodeo.com. This is a very big one for me. It’s hard to talk to tell you the truth. It is a lot of fun.”
