Cole Reiner is currently No. 9 in the world and the bareback rider will likely add a good check to his $72,294 after riding Calgary Stampede’s Choke Cherry for 88.5 points.
Just last week, Reiner was 87 points on the same horse in Canby to finish in fourth place.
“I don’t think there was anything different (than Canby), the horse did a little more than I did,” he said Wednesday night. “That’s a new a rigging I cracked out on him last time, so I was a little nervous.”
Reiner, who made his first Wrangler NFR last year, says he feels really good right now and knows the importance of being ready to go at the end of the season.
“Just capitalizing on good draws and capitalizing on big rodeos is what makes a difference and that’s kind of what I’ve learned the last two years traveling with Kaycee (Feild) and Tilden (Hooper),” he said.
