We are heading into the summer stretch where we will see 100 rodeos in 100 days on The Cowboy Channel and The Cowboy Channel Plus App. There will be some major leaderboard changes throughout the run.
Let’s take a look at the number one contestant in each event as we get ready for the summer.
In Bareback Riding Tilden Hooper leads the way thanks to his impressive 84.32 average score. Hooper has made a qualified ride on 38 of 39 attempts this season and has six go-round wins, including the big one at The American. Hooper currently sits just $3,000 ahead of Tim O’Connell in the standings.
Jacob Talley is the top dog in Steer Wrestling. He is averaging 6.67 seconds per run on the season and can thank his big win at The American for his number one ranking. Talley has a comfortable lead of $29,000 over Tyler Pearson in second place.
In team roping, it is Erich Rogers on the heading side in the top spot. Rogers has over $78,000 in earnings on the season ahead of Dustin Egusquiza by about $17,000 on the year.
Rogers’ partner Paden Bray is in the number one spot on the Heeling side. Bray has won $73,000 on the season and is $21,000 clear of Wesley Thorp in second place.
It is no surprise Ryder Wright is the man atop the Saddle Bronc World Standings. There was no slowing down after Wright’s 2020 world title. He won the American and is averaging nearly 86 points per ride. Ryder will have to fend off a family member for the title as Stetson Wright is just $11,000 behind Ryder.
World Champion Shane Hanchey is your number one tie-down roper in 2021 thanks to a big check at The American. Hanchey is averaging 10.55 seconds per run on the season and has earned nearly $92,000 on the year. Tuf Cooper has a chance to catch Hanchey but will need a big summer run as he currently has. just over $74,000 in earnings.
Sage Kimzey is back on top as he looks to reclaim a World Title in 2021. Kimzey is averaging 86.85 points per ride and is going the full eight seconds 61% of the time. Kimzey has over $100,000 in season earnings already and has opened up a $40,000 lead on Colten Fritzlan who sits in second place.
