Colten Fritzlan has been sidelined due to a shoulder injury incurred May 19, but luckily the young bull rider is projected to be out just several weeks.
He hopes to be back in time for the Greeley Stampede, June 24.
Fritzlan — who in 2020 won the average at the NFR, was named PRCA | Resistol Rookie of the Year and finished No. 3 in World last season — earned the 2021 American Rodeo Champion title in March and currently sits No. 2 in the PRCA World Standings behind leader 6X World Champion Sage Kimzey. He’s looking to make his second National Finals this season.
He was injured when bucked off a practice bull May 19 in Granbury, Texas.
“When I got bucked off, I came down wrong on my left shoulder,” Fritzlan told ProRodeo.com. “I suffered a dislocated left shoulder. I saw (Dr.) Tandy (Freeman) and he told me I have a partially torn labrum and some nerve damage. I’ll go back in around three weeks and get another MRI, and hopefully everything is strong enough and looks good enough for me to return,” Fritzlan said. “Injuries are just part of it. You’re going to get hurt eventually and whatnot, and it depends how you come back from it, that is all that matters.”
