John Wayne Day in The Historic Fort Worth Stockyards

Wednesday, May 26, marks the birth of an American icon — John Wayne, the actor who one biographer wrote “personified for millions the nation’s frontier heritage.” And the John Wayne: An American Experience museum is doing it up BIG in the Fort Worth Stockyards to celebrate with the Wayne family in attendance.

Wednesday will be a full day of old western fun in The Stockyards, with the festivities kicking off at high noon. Enjoy live music, food, western games, and more in front of John Wayne: An American Experience on Rodeo Plaza, next to the Cowtown Coliseum. Special events are free and open to the public! The museum will also be open to guests from noon to 6:00PM.

JOHN WAYNE DAY CELEBRATION

12:00 PM: John Wayne Dedication - In partnership with Fort Worth city officials, a proclamation will be made in honor of John Wayne Day and the Wayne Family will be ceremoniously sharing the Duke’s legacy with the local community

1:00 - 2:00 PM: Jimmy Don Signing

2:00 PM: Live Western Gunfight

2:30: Children’s Book Reading with John Wayne’s granddaughter, Anita Swift
