A Look at the Inaugural River City Rodeo with President David Hubert and Announcer Jeff Lee

Rodeo President David Hubert and Announcer Jeff Lee joined Western Sports Round-Up last night to tell us all about the Southern Indiana River City Rodeo, an all-new event that will kick off tonight in River City.

On why he took on establishing a new ProRodeo event in 2021, Hubert says,"It was just a childhood dream of being a cowboy and making that come alive, yah know, and just having the right people in play that I’ve met throughout the years — I just didn’t see a better time to do it.”

“These guys are really rockstars,” says Lee. “So, David called us — it was a few months back, right after the NFR — and said, ‘Hey look, I’ve got an idea. I want to do a rodeo.’ And most committees are saying, ‘We don’t even know if we are still going to try to do anything in 2021.’ David said, ‘I’m going to pull together a pretty good sized event for my area, and I am going to pull it off without any flaws.’ And he’s really done that. ... It’s really kind of amazing to see a first year event like this that is coming in in a big way.”

Cowboys and cowgirls from 20 different states will gather in Indiana this weekend to compete at the first annual River City Rodeo. And you can stream all of the action LIVE (or later on-demand) on the Cowboy Channel+ app starting tonight!
