Trey Benton III has now won the bull riding at the San Angelo Rodeo three times in the last five years.
His 83-point ride on Black Gold to cinch the victory on Saturday earned him close to $10,000 as he won the rodeo with a total score of 171 points on two head. He and Sage Kimzey were the only two bull riders to make the whistle in the Finals.
“I let one slide at (Ram) National Circuit Finals earlier this year and I think I put a lot of pressure on myself, so tonight, I said ‘just don’t worry about it, there will be another one tomorrow and if it don’t work, we’ll make it happen somewhere else,’” Benton said. “I like that way I went about a lot better.
Following his performance in San Angelo, Benton is now No. 11 in the PRCA World Standings.
