Richmond Champion made his first trip to the RAM National Circuit Final last weekend. Not only was it his first appearance at the RNCFR, but it also turned into his first win at the Circuit Final as well. The win propelled Champion to third place in the World Standings.
Champion said of his win, “Got on some really good horses over the week and was able to do my job and it all worked out.”
In round one Champion went 85.5 points on Korkow Rodeo’s Ringworm. The ride was good for fourth place in the first round.
He followed that up with an 86 point ride in round two which put him in a tie for third place.
In the eight-man round, Champion went 86 points again and took third place on Brookman Rodeo’s Joe Dirt.
Champion turned it on in the finals with an 87 point ride on Vold Rodeo’s Risky Mistress.
“I have only seen it (Risky Mistress) a couple of times and had only heard good things. I was really really looking forward to that.”
After the win, Champion’s season earnings now sit at just over $37,500 and he jumped from sixth to third place in the world. Champion currently sits behind Tim O’Connell and Tilden Hooper.
