In an interview with Kirbe Schnoor, 13-year-old Bricelyn Patschke talks about the work put in to showing this year’s Champion Simmental Steer at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.
“He was a lot of work to get there because he is one of the laziest steers we’ve had all year,” she says with a laugh, recognizing that getting animals ready for a show like Houston is a huge commitment.
“Usually after school we work about three hours a day just with steers. If you don’t work with your steers, then they aren’t going to want to work with you in the show ring.”
