Women’s Professional Rodeo Association President and CEO Doreen Wintermute has announced she is retiring this year.
Wintermute has been President of the WPRA since 2016 and CEO since 2018. Prior to taking over as President, she was on the WPRA Board of Directors as the Southeastern Circuit Director beginning in 2011.
“It is time for me to focus on enjoying the best of life with my family, friends, horses and of course my dogs too,” she said. “I will always cherish my time serving the WPRA as President/CEO and knowing that with the help of so many of you we were to draw on our strengths to make great strides for the WPRA.”
Under Wintermute, the WPRA inducted its first class of ProRodeo Hall of Fame inductees in 2017, entered a six-year agreement with the PRCA to ensure that the WPRA is the only governing body for women in professional rodeo. Additionally, each year under Wintermute membership surpassed 3,000 while growing opportunities for those members.
Her resignation is effective on March 31.
