In 2014, RFD-TV’s The American gave an opportunity for some bull riders who mainly competed in the PBR to get the full rodeo experience once again.

They took advantage.

The Shootout round was full of PBR contenders including Guilherme Marchi, the first bull rider to reach 500 qualified rides in the PBR, 2004 World Champion Mike Lee, 2013 World Champion and richest bull rider in history JB Mauney and Joao Ricardo Vieira, who has been a mainstay in the PBR Top 10 for the last decade.

All four cowboys rode for 87.50 points or better in the Long Round, but in the end, it was Mauney who rose to the occasion as the only one to make the 8 in the Shootout Round.

He did so in style 90.5 points aboard Dakota Rodeo’s Cowtown Slinger.
