Breakaway roper Jade Kenney describes her 1.99-second run at The American Rodeo in 2020

In the Round of Eight at last year’s RFD-TV’s The American, breakaway roper Jade Kenney stopped the clock at a 1.99 seconds.

Kenney joined Steve Kenyon on Western Sports Roundup to relive her speedy run.

She told Steve that because the calf stepped into her, it allowed her to take a good shot. At first, she couldn’t believe what happened.

“I was in shock....it just kind of all happened, I didn’t come into the box thinking ‘ok, I am going to be 1.9,’ I thought I am just going to go make the best run I possibly can.”

Kenney had success on that calf prior to The American Rodeo, too. She said she recorded 1.8-second run on the very same calf in Alvarado one week prior to the semi-finals.
