Mason Clements shares his thoughts on the tournament style format in San Antonio

The San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo is one of many large rodeos that uses a tournament style format to determine a champion.

Contestants are put in five different brackets of 10 for each event, with the Top 4 in money one over two performances moving on to the semi-finals. From there, the Top 5 semifinalists advance to the final with the athlete winning the most money over the course of the rodeo being crowned the champion.

“It really shows who the top rider is through the whole rodeo,” Mason Clements said. “I love it, it just brings out a little more competitive side to everybody I think.”

Clements was the bareback riding champion in San Antonio in 2020.
