San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo CEO Cody Davenport discusses move back to Freeman Coliseum

The San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo is going retro in 2021 by moving back to the Freeman Coliseum, the venue that hosted the event for more than 50 years.

SASSR CEO Cody Davenport said it became evident early that the AT&T Center would not be a feasible location because of the money it would take to book large music acts at a larger venue.

Davenport said he and his team decided to make it a “pure rodeo” with local music and a full retro 1950s theme.

“Crazy environment for all of us, we’re all struggling to make it work, we came up with a plan that will work here in San Antonio and we might as well have a little fun with it as well.”
