Mason Clements on his start to last season and the importance of San Antonio

Bareback rider Mason Clements finished No. 16 in the world in 2019 and it left a bad taste in his mouth.

In 2020, he wanted to ensure he cemented himself as one of the world’s best bareback riders and he did so by winning both the National Western and the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo early in the year.

The two wins earned him more than $23,000, which was huge for his year because of the COVID-19 shutdown.

Clements said those two rodeos were always on his “hit list” of rodeos he wanted to win.

“There wasn’t a day that went by that I wasn’t fueled up ready to go,” he said.
