In Round 7 at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, bull rider Tyler Bingham drew the infamous Spotted Demon of Big Stone Rodeo, a bull who’s not often ridden but when he is, can get you a pile of points. Unfortunately, Bingham wasn’t able to make it to the buzzer and the buck off resulted in a nasty wreck.

Bingham lost control and was launched forward. He collided headfirst into Spotted Demon’s skull and his helmet went flying. Knocked unconscious, Bingham fell to the ground, and as the bull came down, his back right foot landed in the middle of Bingham’s chest.

The Justin Sports Medicine Team jumped into action and Bingham was carried off the dirt, reportedly regaining consciousness while on the board. He was immediately taken to the hospital for evaluation.

This morning Tyler’s wife Jerica provided an update on social media, writing:

“We are so overwhelmed with love and prayers from everyone! We are working on getting back to each of you, but THANK YOU! It really does mean the world to us. Tyler is currently in ICU and is as comfortable as he can be. He broke ribs 3-5 on the left side and ribs 3-4 on the right side, broke his sternum, and left clavicle, there is a hematoma under his sternum, his lungs are bruised, and his heart is bruised. They are keeping him for a day or two to monitor his heart and make sure it is healing properly. His head and stomach CT came back normal. Tyler is already cracking jokes and coming back to himself. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the love and concern!!! We will keep you updated!! You can’t beat our rodeo family and we are so lucky to be a part of such a great community!
