Clayton Hass says his favorite rodeo is the National Finals and for the first time since three straight appearances from 2014-2016, he will be competing on the sport’s biggest stage.

Early in the season, Hass won placed in four rounds at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, including a blistering 3.2-second run in the semifinals, which won him $4,153. He won just over $10,000 for his bulldogging in the Alamo City.

Hass also had a huge weekend from July 29-Aug. 1. He had four runs at three rodeos and was 4.0 seconds or faster in three of those runs. Overall, he amassed $6,924 in that stretch.

Between Aug. 21 and Sept. 6, Hass won checks of $1,500 or more at the Guymon (OK) Pioneer Days, Golden Spike Rodeo in Temonton, Utah and the Magic Valley Stampede in Filer, Idaho. With a 3.8-second time in Idaho, he won $2,450.

Hass ended the 2020 season strong by placing in five consecutive rounds at five rodeos from Sept. 17-25 and winning $4,253. All five of the runs were 4.3 seconds or faster.

All three years Hass qualified for the Wrangler NFR, he finished in the Top 10. In 2016, he had the best finish of his career, ending the season in third place with $213,111.

In 2020, his average was 5.59 seconds, better than any year he qualified for the NFR.
