Pat Christenson, president of Las Vegas Events, joins Justin McKee on Western Sports Round-Up to discuss the NFR leaving Las Vegas for the first time since 1985.
They talk about what this means for Las Vegas, their contract with the PRCA, what went into making the decision to relocate the event this year, and LVE’s role for 2020. At the end of the day, it all came down to allowing fans to attend.
“When you look at our history, the 35 years that Las Vegas has built this event to what it is, it is — it’s probably not a strong enough word — it’s unfortunate that we’re not in the position to bring it back for the thirty-fifth year,” Christenson says. “But it’s nobody’s fault but this pandemic, and instead of focusing on what we can’t do, we’re focusing on what we can do.”
