PRCA CEO George Taylor joins Justin McKee on ProRodeo Tonight to talk Cowboy Christmas (which totaled more than $1.7 million in payouts), what’s to come and the possibility of extending the season, adjustments to rodeo counts, and plans for the 2020 NFR.
Taylor stresses that rodeo will only come back stronger following the shutdowns and obstacles posed by the Coronavirus pandemic.
When it comes to the NFR, he says Las Vegas is committed to having a National Finals this year, but we still don’t know yet what it will look like. Taylor says they certainly don’t foresee it being a fanless event, but Thomas & Mack probably won’t be packed to capacity either. “It’s going to be about protocols and how we get that done,” he says, “and we’re going to have it be as full as we can have it.”
Taylor also mentions exciting news regarding the XTreme Bulls Finals, National Circuit Finals, and the ProRodeo Tour Finale. But the BIG NEWS: The PRCA will be partnering with the WPRA and announcing a women’s Breakaway Championship. More details will be laid out in the coming weeks.
