It was a big night at the World’s Oldest Rodeo with a handful of new leaders emerging in Performance 3.
In the roughstock, No. 1 Saddle Bronc Rider in the World Standings Wyatt Casper moved into the number one spot on the leaderboard with a score of 83.5 on Vold Rodeo’s I’ma Bee, pushing Cort Scheer into second, and Daylon Swearingen turned in the top score so far in the bull riding with an 84.5-point ride on4L & Diamond S Rodeo’s Reality Check.
Turning in the fastest times of the rodeo so far in round one were steer wrestlers Taz Olson with a 4.4 and team ropers Curry Kirchner and Chad Mathes with a time 5.5 seconds. Unfortunately, none had qualified times on their second go-round and will not place in the average. Barrel racer Wenda Johnson had better luck, beating out leader Dona Kay Rule with a 16.91-second run in round one and then moving into first in the average with a time of 17.20 in round two. Tie-down roper Hunter Herrin also jumped to first in the average following his 7.7-second run in round two, pushing Shad Mayfield into second overall.
