Crossett Rodeo Recap

After a week of rain in Crossett, Arkansas, the Crossett Riding Club 72nd Annual PRCA Rodeo, held June 24-27, was a muddy affair. But that didn’t deter ProRodeo’s best from showing out.

In fact, this was the biggest year ever for the Crossett rodeo — with its entries including 92 NFR qualifiers, 22 of who hold World Championship titles.

Among them was 6X Bull Riding World Champion Sage Kimzey. Looking as strong as ever after having time at home to recover from his ankle injury, KImzey placed in the top six and earned a check, but it was Bayle Worden who took the win in the bull riding with an 87.5-point ride on Pete Carr Pro Rodeo’s Concho Lizzard.

“He was just a good bull,” Worden told ProRodeo.com. “They told me before the rodeo that bull was going to be good and fall out and go around to the right. Sure enough, that’s just what the doctor ordered. I had never seen that bull before, and that ride felt good. A bull like that, you just do your job and he will take you around pretty easy.”

In the bareback riding, 2019 reserve world champion Orin Larsen split the win with up-and-comer Jayco Roper, and Larsen now sits at 16 in the World Standings, just one spot out of NFR contention.

Also finishing at the top of the leaderboard were steer wrestler Riley Duvall, team ropers Jake Orman and Brye Crites, saddle bronc rider Lane Wimberly, tie-down roper Andrew Burks, and barrel racer Emily Taylor.
