Reining horse owner and trainer Jerry Kimmel passed away at age 82.
Kimmel got his start learning from the best and produced some of the top horses in the business through Kimmel Reining Horses. In 2014, he was honored with the National Reining Horse Association’s Dale Wilkinson Lifetime Achievement Award
“My dad’s philosophy was, ‘if I’m going to do this, I’m going to find the best guy there is and that’s who I’m going to learn from,’” Jerry’s son, Greg Kimmel, told Quarter Horse News. “He hooked up with who I still consider the best trainer in the country in Western Pleasure and that is Cleve Wells. They developed a really strong friendship.”
