Last December Las Vegas Events, the PRCA, Santa Maria Elks Rodeo, Red Bluff Round-Up, and the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation teamed up to bring the Golden Circle of Champions to the NFR, honoring 20 children battling cancer and their families.
Here’s a look back to the Golden Circle of Champions event held during the 2019 NFR, where Janie Johnson was on hand to talk to the rodeo athlete participants and the adolescent honorees.
ABOUT THE GOLDEN CIRCLE OF CHAMPIONS
Founded in 2016, with the support and partnership of the Santa Maria Elks Rodeo, the Golden Circle of Champions raises awareness and provides funds to children battling pediatric cancer.
“Our goal is to bring the much needed education and awareness, locally and nationally, to pediatric cancer and offer a ray of hope to the families that are navigating through this journey,” says founder Tina Tonascia. “They desperately need our help as a community, and we want to let them know we are here for them. It is our job to tell their story about pediatric cancer, in the hopes that one day we will be able to make a difference.”
