Even though the Houston Livestock & Rodeo events have now been canceled, the HLSR packed a plethora of festivities into its first eight days for all rodeo and Western lifestyle lovers to enjoy. Here’s a look at the Lil’ Rustlers Rodeo, which brought kids with special needs in on the action at NRG Center.
Special needs students between the ages of 4 and 10 are given the chance to compete in their favorite rodeo events at the annual Lil’ Rustlers Rodeo, which features nearly 60 contestants assisted by real cowboys and cowgirls in each performance and is typically held over three nights (this year, only 1 night of competition had concluded before the rodeo shut down).
The HLSR believes its rodeo and livestock shows are experiences everyone should enjoy. So each year, the Special Children’s Committee interviews social agencies and schools so that physically and developmentally challenged children and adults are able attend and participate in Houston’s largest annual event.
