Barrel racer Ivy Hurst took the first round of the semi-finals and will be advancing on to the finals at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo,
To earn the win on Thursday night, Hurst stopped the clock at 16.47 seconds. Just behind her in second place was Ashley Castlberry, clocking 16.48, and in third was JImmie Smith with a 16.49. When asked about just how close the top three times were, being divided by just a hundredth of a second, Hurst says, “You can’t snap your fingers fast enough. It’s stupid fast.”
Talking about her own run, Hurst says, “It was kind of a blur, and usually the good runs are, I was a little discouraged - I kind of screwed up my second barrel. So I took a chance and turned the third on as tight as I could, and tried to get out of there.”
