Amy Wilson talks to world champion tie-down roper Tyson Durfey and daughter Praise (who steals the show!) at Dickies Arena following his winning time in the wild card round at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo.
Durfey says competing at the new arena in his own backyard and having the support of his family and hometown was an amazing feeling. “When I rode in the box, the announcer, I think Bob Tallman, said, ‘Is there anyone here from Brock, Texas?’ ... I heard hundreds of people scream. And Brock, Texas, is really small, so it was cool that there were a lot of people here. New arena, new feeling — it’s so awesome.”
He also talks about launching his YouTube channel series, on which he travels around to meet new people, motivational speaking and sharing what it means to be a cowboy. “I really believe that being a cowboy is the most freeing way of life,” Durfey says.
His 8.3 in the wild card round means that Durfey will advance in the ProRodeo tournament, competing again tonight in the semi-finals. Watch LIVE starting at 8:30 PM EST.
