Shane Hanchey has had some good luck at Fort Worth in years past. He won the tie-down roping in 2010, and in 2018, he won the titles in both Fort Worth and Denver in the same week (becoming the first tie-down roper to do so since 2003).
Unfortunately, Hanchey will not be moving on to the semi-finals this year for a shot at a third Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo buckle. His “no-time” in the second performance for Bracket 7 following this interview pushed him out of the running, but he’s still glad he got to compete at the new Dickies Arena.
“It’s great,” he says. “I mean, I watch it every night on The Cowboy Channel, and when you’re watching it on TV, it looks real cool. But when you get here in person, it’s even better.”
