Bareback rider Clint Laye (a 2X NFR qualifier who finished ninth last year in the PRCA world standings) came in third in the first round for Bracket 5 at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, but he pulled off the win in the second and the overall, scoring 87.5 points on Frontier Rodeo’s Painted Smoke.
“Yeah, that was a lot of fun I had out there today,” says Laye, looking back at his ride on the Dreamcatcher replay system at Dickies Arena.
Explaining what made Painted Smoke so fun to ride, he says, “His bucking pattern — his feet are hitting even. He’s stalling out; he’s basically just doing everything for me. That’s what make ‘em fun. When they start stepping ahead is when they start getting a little strong, and he didn’t do that at all.”
