After going just 1-for-4 in Rounds 3-6, Stetson Wright got himself right back into the bull riding race with an 89-point ride on the back of Universal Pro Rodeo’s Slinger.

The Round Seven win came about 45 minutes after Wright won the saddle bronc riding as well.

“When you’re 90.5 (in the bronc riding), you catch a second wind of energy and everything, when I went to get on my bull I just felt like I had just been in the best shape of my life and was ready to rock and roll,” he said. “I was just fired up for that bull.”

STETSON’S RIDE

Ky Hamilton, Colten Fritzlan and Ty Wallace all bucked off making way for Wright to rise all the way to No. 2 in the world and No. 2 in the average with 358 points on 4 head. Fritzlan is still first with 428.5/5.

Wallace currently leads the world standings by less than $100 over Stetson Wright. Hamilton is sitting about $15,000 behind Wallace and Fritzlan is in fourth, trailing by about $27,000.

And don’t count out the man in fifth, six-time World Champion Sage Kimzey just yet, he won a $30,000 check thanks to some ground money Wednesday night to get within $45,000 of Wallace. Kimzey is now seventh in the average.
