After their runs, Stetson Jorgensen and Jacob Edler both popped up and immediately celebrated, and they had plenty to celebrate. Both men were 3.3 seconds in the steer wrestling, the fastest time of the rodeo.
“It came from the heart,” Edler said of his passionate pistols firing celebration after his first career Go-Round win. “That wasn’t planned, I’ll tell you that.”
EDLER’S RUN
Jorgensen was a little more low-key, looking up at the crowd and flexing his right bicep, but he had plenty to be happy about as well.
He picked up his first Go-Round win of the 2020 Wrangler NFR, kept his first place spot in the average and moved to second in the world standings, within $8,000 of No. 1 Matt Reeves, who is eighth in the average. Edler is second in the average two-tenths behind Jorgensen.
JORGENSEN’S RUN
Overall, Jorgensen has placed in four of six rounds.
“Yes, I am (pleased with my performance),” he said. “Try not to get a big head about it and keep knocking ‘em down.”
Horsepower may have played a role in both of their triumphs as both cowboys rode Mabel, a horse that Jorgensen rode all year. It was Edler’s first performance at the National Finals that he rode Mabel, and it’s no surprise he says he will continue through the last four rounds.
“I’ve rode Stetson’s horse (Mabel) in the past and had a lot of success on her. I knew I was going to get slicked right up the steer’s back every time,” Edler said. “I was able to do my job and was fortunate Stetson allowed me to get on.”
