Steer Wrestler Ty Bauerle Sits No. 1 in the Rookie Standings Despite Having a Slow Start this Season

The rookie might not have started the season strong, but he is making himself known on the Summer Run.

Texas steer wrestler Ty Bauerle is carrying on the family tradition as he continues to make a name for himself in the world of professional rodeo.

Bauerle is currently sitting in the No. 1 spot in the Resistol Rookie Steer Wrestling Standings with a little over $50,000 in earnings thus far.

Despite having what Bauerle called a “slow year,” he has picked up the pace in July and August and holds his spot in the standings with a $12,000 lead.

“It’s been a slow year. I got into Denver, didn’t do any good at Denver. Didn’t really do good at Fort Worth. Didn’t get into San Antone, didn’t get into Houston, but did good at Austin, placed at Guymon. It had kind of been a slow year up until the time in Spanish (Fork), really,” he said.

After winning a little under $10,000 at the Fiesta Days Rodeo in Spanish Fork, Utah, Bauerle’s season started to make a turn for the better.

“This past week, had a pretty good week. I got on a different horse and started working good,” he said.

Since the start of August, Bauerle has stacked up some big checks at rodeos such as the Dodge City Roundup (Kansas), That Famous Preston Night Rodeo (Idaho), Mountain Valley Stampede (Utah) and the Douglas County Fair and Rodeo (Colorado).
