Steer Wrestler JD Struxness Makes Winning Round 1 In San Antonio Look Easy

It was a fast night of steer wrestling for Bracket 3 Round 1 at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. JD Struxness gets the win with a 3.5 second run to beat out the competition.

“Tonight was a good night of bulldogging and they came out right off the bat, full force. So it was time to go and you just go fast and hopefully it works,” Struxness said.

It helped that he had a good equine partner for the night. Struxness was on Curtis Cassidy’s Horse of the Year, Tyson. Horsepower is essential in an event like this and Tyson is one of the best to ever do it.

“Having a great horse in the bulldogging is really important, so he let me on his horse, Tyson, and I just took the start and my steer was good… made my job easy,” Struxness said.

Finishing in the money in Round 1 of the steer wrestling alongside Struxness is Jesse Brown, Ryan Nettle and Tristan Martin.
