Sage Kimzey left the NFR with an unfamiliar feeling in 2020 - not winning the World Championship. From 2014-2019, every single year he rodeoed full-time prior to last, Kimzey had finished as the top bull rider in the PRCA.

Last year, he finished fifth in the world, but he is back on top for the time being as he enters the 2021 NFR No. 1 in the World Standings with $264,739 already won.

Kimzey ended the season in emphatic fashion by finishing second at the ProRodeo Tour Finale. He rode 4-of-5 bulls and left Salinas as the only bull rider to make more than $18,000 at the event.

In September, Kimzey also won the Ellensburg Xtreme Bulls and a round at the Xtreme Bulls Finale in Pendleton. He banked more than $66,000 for the month and extended his $46,000 lead over world No. 2 Stetson Wright to about $60,000.

Kimzey wasn’t just No. 1 in the world standings to end the season, but he was No. 1 on the Xtreme Bulls Tour by more than $40,000, he consistently got the best of his peers and the best bulls in the world. Kimzey won four times on the Xtreme Bulls Tour in 2021 and all four times his winning ride was marked 87 or more points.

As for traditional rodeos, he of course had success at those too. Kimzey was the champion at the Durant Pro Rodeo (Oklahoma), Ogden Pioneer Days (Utah), Spanish Fork Fiesta Days (Utah), Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo (Utah), Kansas’ Biggest Rodeo and Yellowstone River Round-Up. He averaged 89.5 points on those six rides and was paid an average of $4,855 for his event wins.

Kimzey’s 88 qualified rides are the most he’s ever had in season and the most in the PRCA in 2021. He registered nine rides of 90 points or more and a whopping 42 rides of 85 points or more.

He has won 13 NFR Go-Rounds in his career.
