Roscoe Jarboe has made five NFRs in the last six years, but he has never had to fight as hard he did in 2021 to get there.

With two weeks left in the season, Jarboe was No. 17 in the PRCA World Standings and about $4,000 out of the No. 15 spot. Because he didn’t qualify for the ProRodeo Tour Finale, he was able to compete at several rodeos on the last weekend of the season, and he won two of them.

Jarboe was 86.5 points on Jack Slap to win the Cowboy Capital of the World PRCA Rodeo and 89.5 points on Goofy at Young Living’s Last Chance Rodeo (Utah). Those rodeos won him $5,714 and $4,246 respectively.

Jarboe was in position for his end of season push because he was terrific at Xtreme Bulls events all season long. Despite being 15th in the overall standings, he was No. 5 on the Xtreme Bulls Tour, higher than some notable NFR cowboys like Stetson Wright, JB Mauney, Shane Proctor and Josh Frost.

Jarboe won the Liberty National Xtreme Bulls (Oklahoma), Northern Most Xtreme Bull Riding (Alaska) and the Marvelous Xtreme Bull Madness.

He was 88.5 points in Oklahoma, 89.5 in Utah and 90 in Alaska. All three wins paid him more than $5,000.

Jarboe’s other wins at traditional rodeos came at Parada Del Sol (Arizona), Helotes Festival Rodeo (Texas), Sanders County Fair & Rodeo and the Lewiston Round-Up. He banked more than $3,000 apiece from Lewiston and Sanders County.

Jarboe also won more than $3,000 for bull rides at the Kitsap Stampede Xtreme Bulls (Washington), Lea County Xtreme Bulls (New Mexico), Red Bluff Round-Up (California) and Guymon Pioneer Days (Oklahoma).

Jarboe averaged career-high 84.14 points per ride and also set a new career best with 23 rides of 85 points or more in 2021.

Jarboe was the last bull rider to win a round at the Wrangler NFR as he was the top cowboy in Round 10 in 2020 with his 92-point trip on Freddy Fender. It was Jarboe’s third Go-Round win on rodeo’s biggest stage.
