Sisters Rodeo: Preview, Format And What to Watch For

Sisters Rodeo_1280

The Sisters Rodeo returns this weekend from the Pacific Northwest and brings several of the top athletes to compete for their share of $138,000. The rodeo began as a bucking contest in 1910 and in the 1940s it became the Sisters Rodeo. In 1956 it became an amateur rodeo which would occur every year until the rodeo joined the PRCA in 1988.

The rodeo brings more than 20,000 people per day to the rodeo grounds where a staff that is made up of all volunteers maintains the 33-acre plot of land. Here is what you can expect from Sisters, Oregon this weekend.

Format

The Roughstock is a simple one-header. The athlete with the highest marked ride will be crowned champion. For timed events other than Barrel Racing, athletes will compete in two rounds and the aggregate winner will be crowned champion. In Barrel Racing it is like Roughstock, with the single fastest time being crowned the champion.
