Logan Hay will need surgery breaking and tearing ligaments in his elbow during a wreck on Lonesome Joy Ride Thursday night in Redding, according to Bronc Riding Nation.

Hay was hung up a bit and then hit the ground as all four of Lonesome Joy Ride’s feet went into the air. The horse also landed hard, but was not injured.

Hay, who made his first NFR and finished No. 4 in the world in 2022, is currently No. 17 in the PRCA Saddle Bronc Riding World Standings.

“Well after a crazy couple days I’m headed back to Canada all fixed up. I had to get some screws and plates in the head of my Ulna as well as getting my UCL repaired,” Hay wrote on Instagram Sunday. “I’m blessed that along with a mild concussion that’s the extent of my injuries. I would like to give a huge shoutout to everyone at the Justin Sports Med team that helped me throughout the Weekend as well as Susan and Katherine Merck for going way out of their way to help me.”
