Saddle Bronc Rider Brody Cress Takes Lead in Austin after 86 Point Ride Wednesday

Brody Cress, No. 4 in the PRCA Saddle Bronc Riding World Standings, is looking to make a move further up the standings after taking the lead in Austin after some impressive riding in Houston.

Cress was 86 points inside the Travis County Expo Center on Wednesday night and leads the Long Round, which comes with a payday of more than $5,000 for first place. He edged Logan Cook by a half point.

“She’s dang sure an opportunity when you get in the arena,” Cress said of his dance partner, Mission Belles of Rafter G.

Before taking the lead in Austin, Cress dominated his SuperSeries in Houston by placing the Top 4 in all three rounds. He is up Thursday night in the Semifinals of RodeoHouston.

“It’s awesome to have all of these big winter rodeos and get on good horses,” he said. “It’s a great field of bronc riders and you gotta show up every day and ride the best you can.”

Cress is doing all of this with a torn ligament in his left leg from getting bucked off at The American, he says the tape job the Justin Sports Medicine team did on Wednesday night did its job.
