Reno Rodeo to have 100 percent capacity in June

After a cancelation last year, the Reno Rodeo is back at full force as it was announced Monday afternoon the event would be held at full capacity.

The decision comes after Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak announced his goal of having every county reopen to 100 percent by the beginning of June.

“We remain fully committed to holding a safe rodeo, first and foremost,” said George Combs, general manager of the Reno Rodeo. “We have all been hard at work planning for the 2021 rodeo with some uncertainty around social distancing requirements. With these recent developments, we are confident that we can put on a safe event at full capacity while providing fans the exhilarating experience the Reno Rodeo is known for.”

According to its website, The Reno Rodeo brings in more than 140,000 fans each year and the event has a $42 million economic impact on the area.

The rodeo takes place from June 17-26, kicking off with a cattle drive and an Xtreme Bulls event on the 17th.

“We’re grateful to the city, county and state officials who recognize that the Reno Rodeo -- like our region’s many signature events -- is an important part of the fabric of our community,” said Combs. “We feel a great deal of responsibility being the first major event out of the gate in 2021, but we’re also incredibly proud and excited to be able to give folks something to look forward to and we know we won’t disappoint them.”
