No. 1 Rookie Bareback Rider Weston Timberman Impresses and Sets the Bar at the NFR Open

Weston Timberman takes the lead in Colorado Springs by a point and a half.

Montana’s Weston Timberman’s NFR Open started rough with Sheriff Bart but he took the reride on Powder River Rodeo’s Shade Tree to take the lead and set the pace.

“You’ve just got to keep your head in the right spot, doing stuff like that when they try to get you going and stuff, really tries to take your head out of things and I just told myself to stay focused, take the opportunity on that new horse and get the job done,” Timberman said.

Timberman did not know much about Shade Tree but a quick chat with Hank Franzen was all he needed for the horse to do exactly as Franzen said.

A circle around to left and Timberman put an 83.5 on the board to set the bar in Colorado Springs.

The Top 12 on a two-head Average will return for the clean-slate Semifinals in Pikes Peak on Saturday. Timberman will compete again on Wednesday night at 10 PM ET on The Cowboy Channel and Cowboy Channel+.
