NFR’s Most Memorable Moments - Lane Frost’s 1987 World Title

Lane Frost won the Gold Buckle in 1987, but he made a name for himself before that, at the 1986 NFR.

That year, he rode 9 of 10 bulls to win the average, with the legendary Red Rock being the only one to buck him off.

He would go onto win the World Championship in 1987 by placing in six rounds and finishing third in the average.

Later, he would get revenge on Red Rock. In a best-of-seven match against Red Rock known as the Challenge of Champions. Frost covered the previously unridden bull four times.

In 1988, he tragically died in the arena at the Cheyenne Frontier Days.

In 1990, he and Red Rock were both inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame.
