Medina Spirit Fails Follow-Up Drug Test

Medina Spirit has failed the follow-up drug test after failing the first at the Kentucky Derby, which the horse won. While the failed test was confirmed, there have not been any disqualifications announced.

Veterinarian Ben Espy joined Western Sports Round-Up to explain the situation.

“Baffert’s lawyers are going to appeal and the route that they are going to take is that they are going to try to prove the application of the ointment was the source of the betamethasone.”

The winner of the Kentucky Derby gets $1.8 million which is on the line if the Kentucky Racing Commission disqualifies Baffert’s horse, Medina Spirit.
